A city that is said to be a romantic one, eventhough I still don't understand why. We visited the island venice (there's also mainland venice), and the island has no motor vehicles at all. 100% water transportation. Famous for its gondolas, although I don't see what's so special riding in a boat with two pointed ends, on sometimes quite smelly canals, along poorly maintained building facades, with rubbish along the way. Not to mention the high price we have to pay for it (I'm talking about a range of 60-100 euros here!) Oh my, I'm giving a very bad impression of venice, aren't I, but that's how it is. But there are some quite beautiful buildings there. But venice is definitely a shopping heaven! Venice is popular with its lace and murano glass (coloured glass, shaped into many sort of things).
